Review: Gone Girl

Gone Girl
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A very frightening toxic couple’s marriage is brought out for analysis in this psychological thriller. Amy and Nick appear a perfect, average couple, happy with each other and then things go downhill. Instead of working on the marriage by talking things out, he cheats on her and she frames him for her murder. Amy’s elaborate plotting is air-tight and just before Nick is sent on trial and then to death row, his wife turns up and expects him to play ‘happy couples’ again. The police, the media, the parents and the Mississippi town population are all dragged into the drama of their marriage. It’s truly frightening. I’ve met a toxic couple like this. Just run away, fast.
