Review: The Marriage Game: A Novel of Queen Elizabeth I

The Marriage Game: A Novel of Queen Elizabeth I
The Marriage Game: A Novel of Queen Elizabeth I by Alison Weir
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Marriage game means endless procrastination to keep political alliances without ever committing to marriage. This book casts Queen Elizabeth as cruel, fickle, insecure, jealous and vain. Her cleverness is played down. My sympathy was with Lord Robert of Leicester who was left hanging with the hope of marriage to her for decades.
