Review: Mistborn: The Final Empire

Mistborn: The Final Empire
Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It’s an interesting concept, Allomancy, the swallowing and burning of metals to have specific powers. This dystopian fantasy is worth reading and is well written. The female lead, a street urchin thief, is a familiar protagnist and she makes an appearance here and discovers she has wonderous powers of full allomancy which makes her a Mistborn, as opposed to a Misting who only has one metal power. She falls in love with the richest prince in the kingdom of Luthadel who is a bit of a fop (a familiar story of Cinderella and Price Charming). The male protagonist of course has incredible powers and a tortured history and he recruits our thief and makes her masquerade as a low level noble at balls,to infiltrate the heirarchy so that the poor people can overthrow the governing classes and the Lord Ruler ( a tyrant).
There are few surprises in the book, but it’s a nice read.
