There are about seven viewpoint characters in this book and two/three of them are distracting to the main storyline of the brother and sister. Each chapter goes through the storyline of a viewpoint character which is an interesting structure with interesting stories that question how you judge yourself and others, but I think this novel would have been more powerful if the author stuck to just the storylines of the immediate family members.
Another bittersweet ending, similar to the last two books. This seems to be a trademark!
I am a massive fan of this author and read all his books. He has a beautiful writing style where the words flow smoothly like water. A real wordsmith.
